Final Fantasy VI

Final Fantasy VI (1994)

by Square, Square Enix
Genres:Role-playing (RPG), Adventure
Themes:Open world, Fantasy, Sandbox
Game modes:Single player
Story:Final Fantasy VI is the sixth main installment in the Final Fantasy series, developed and published by Square. It was the final title in the series to feature two-dimensional graphics, and the first story that did not revolve around crystals. The game gives players up to fourteen playable characters, the largest cast in the series, and features the Active Time Battle pseudo-turn based menu command system. A party can consist of up to four characters, though some events require the player to assemble three different parties of up to four and switch between them. Each character has a unique command ability, such as Terra's Trance, Locke's Steal, Edgar's Tools or Sabin's Blitz, and can also learn Magic spells from earning AP from battles with magicite equipped. Each character's rare Desperation Attack will randomly activate after using the Attack command when at critical health.Show more

This masterpiece deserves to be part of the gog preservation program, but the ORIGINAL version. If gog does include the remaster, make it optional, and give people the choice as to which version they buy. The remaster changed so many things it could not rightly be called the same game.

As far as I'm concerned this is the best video game ever made. I've played this game through I don't know how many times since I first played it on Christmas in 1994. I still prefer the Super Nintendo English release above every other version and that's the version I want on here.
I played Final Fantasy VI on the Wii and iPhone when I was younger. I never beat it but I loved the experience nonetheless. Recently, I saw this amazing graphic mod called Brave Steel. It turns out it was for the old steam/mobile version of FF VI which turned out to be the very one I played on my iPhone. I tried to buy this version of the game but I saw that it was delisted for the upcoming pixel remaster. I tried to see if there were any other alternatives to buy this version but it turned out piracy was the only choice and I wasn't willing to risk my ROG Ally and or my Steam account being compromised for one game. I understand why Square Enix took this version of the game off digital marketplaces but I feel that this old version of the game should be preserved to respect the wonderful legacy that Final Fantasy VI has.
best final Fantasy game ever because of it music gameplay story characters and the 2016 original pc port on gog preservation program i want og version from 2016 not the pixel remaster of it even those it is a good Remaster and ff 6 drm free sounds good to me

I first played this on the Super Nintendo. I have a many great memories of sitting in front of the TV with my brother as we took turns playing the game. To this day it is still my favorite of the Final Fantasy games. I don't the series has ever hit the scope, depth of character, or emotional highs and lows that this one did. This is easily one of the best games ever made.
Final Fantasy VI was a game that profoundly shaped my understanding of storytelling in video games. From the moment I played it, I was captivated by its intricate plot, deep character development, and emotional depth. The game’s exploration of themes like rebellion, loss, hope, and redemption resonated with me in ways I hadn’t experienced before. It taught me that no matter how bleak the situation, there’s always hope, and even the most unlikely heroes can rise to face overwhelming odds. The diverse cast of characters, each with their own personal struggles and motivations, made me connect with them on a deeper level. Characters like Terra, Locke, and Celes helped me understand the importance of empathy, personal growth, and the power of fighting for a cause greater than oneself. Their individual journeys reinforced that our pasts don’t define us, and that through perseverance, we can find our purpose. The game’s music and world-building also left a lasting impact, further immersing me into its emotional landscape. The grand scale of the story, paired with the open-ended approach to exploration, showed me how video games can offer rich, layered experiences that evoke deep emotions and provoke introspection. Final Fantasy VI not only shaped my love for RPGs, but also instilled in me valuable lessons about courage, friendship, and the resilience of the human spirit.

Crimson II
Crimson IIYears have passed since the evil Crimson was defeated. Peace was restored, and humanity enjoyed an era of prosperity. But a new demonic being has arisen, ending the peace in the world. Five heroes must find each other and unite in order to vanquish him. The sequel to Crimson retains the basic gameplay of its predecessor and is a medieval-themed role-playing game with overhead exploration and first-person turn-based combat against randomly appearing enemies. The first part of the game is broken into chapters, each dedicated to one of the five heroes; afterwards, they are united as a party and continue the quest together, similarly to Dragon Quest IV.
