I'm still trying to nail down my favourite game. It's between Final Fantasy Tactics and FF9 here. This is the game that got me to actually pay attention to stories, to really get me invested. Not just in games, but in general. I already liked my shows and games and such but this game spoke to me like nothing else I've seen before (also because I was old enough to start really getting into stories like that). I remember one time my late friend had me summarize the story to him over the phone. He ended up liking what I managed to recall. For that reason and more this game will always hold a special place in my heart.
The Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX and X/X2 versions on Steam are completely broken and dysfunctional on a fundamental technical level and you need to install a fan made mod just to have Japanese voices with English subtitles for FF X/X2. Square Enix handled their Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX and X/X2 ports so poorly and then they wondered why they didn't sell. And now they have released this three fold abomination that is the VII remake. It's like Square Enix is spitting us PC gamers in the face. Please release these games in a proper state on PC in their original states and with proper voice/subtitle choices. All these games need is the ability to run at high resolution and a bare minumum of 60FPS. No remakes. No UI changes. And certainly no story or gameplay changes.

"Maybe it's good despite that cutesy character design", I thought back in 2000 when I bought the game day one. Most of us did, I guess. Little did we know that Final Fantasy IX was a story about horrific loss, total war, genocide, soul crushing guilt, and existential dread. The deepest and most profound of the series in my opinion, and reportedly, the favorite of creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. FF9 stuck with me like no other. I played it alone first, then with a friend, then with a group of friends, then alone again. On PS2, the game only properly started from Disc 2, but I still didn't get tired of it. I'm still drawing and painting the characters, I'm still discussing the instalment with my best friend a quarter century later. And I've started playing the music on piano – this varied, expansive, this utterly devine soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu with its never ending parade of catchy tunes or 'earworms' as we Germans would say. As much as I keep on hoping, no artificial intelligence will ever repaint the original backgrounds satisfactorily, and no remake will ever improve the experience in any meaningful way. Nine was perfect as it was released; and it has aged quite well. Please preserve it for us and for future generations, SQE, and bring it to GOG.
This game was my third Final Fantasy game overall and was by far the most special amongst them. I was 14 when I played this and was instantly charmed by it. It has a lot of heart and whimsy to it that I feel a lot of games are genuinely missing. I want this game to be on GOG so that we have the game looking like it did on the Original Playstation and not with the godawful mobile menu format that both the Steam and PSN versions have. Also, if you guys could make it so that we can still have a second player with us in battle like the original did, that would be great.

The last Final Fantasy for the original Playstation. Also a surprise throwback to it's fantasy RPG roots, with the original classes like Black Mages and White Mages, etc. coming back.

One of my all time favorite Final Fantasy games. Every port of this game since the original not only seem to run poorly, but all cut out one of the biggest feature I loved from this game: Co-op. The Original Playstation version allowed up to 4 players to play at once during battles (by having each player set to control certain characters). I played through this game with my brother to its completion. I would hope if the game was preserved on GOG, they'd include such features that Square themselves seem to want everyone to forget it exsisted.
Final Fantasy IX, the game I love so much! Everything about this game is exquisite, from the love story between Zidane and Sarah/Garnet, Vivi, and Quina, Beatrice and Steiner, and of course, the minigames! You have the Chocobo Treasure Quest that is worth it! Also, you can play Tetra Master for rare cards. You can also bid in The Dark City, Treno for rare items! The Trance Ability is well-optimized in this game. The soundtrack is well-composed in this game. I would definitely recommend this game to be in GOG for future generations to experience!

The PC ports as is are messy and require plenty of mods and patches to be even remotely desireable. I really enjoyed what I played after all of that effort and wish more people could experience this game without having to put in so much work to not make it a pain in the ass. It's kinda ridiculous they didn't put in the effort to improve the framerate. I know it would have required some work, but Square Enix is definitely capable of the workforce to do just that.
This game deserves better than the mobile version than we received-- and the fact that there isn't an easier way to play these games for new fans is a crying shame.
What to say about this game, huh? For me this is the best Final Fantasy of all times because of the characters and the pitch perfect fantasy feels of the setting. They are all called "Final Fantasy", but this is the one that really felt fantastic to me, like a fairy tale or a lullaby from a distant impossible place. That main theme still gives me chills today while making me nostalgic of a home I've never been to.
Those games also need your vote!

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the PatriotsMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the final canonical Metal Gear game to feature Solid Snake as the main character. The gameplay of the previous games have been kept along with some new features, such as the ability to roll on your back and also to hide in bins scattered around the environment. Most of the story and the relationship between the characters are explained through cut-scenes with a considerable length, so knowledge of the prior games is recommended to fully understand the story. The game also features a complex multiplayer mode entitled Metal Gear Online with some original missions based on the stealth aspects of the single-player games.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
